About the Designer

I have been sewing since I made doll clothes out of scraps of fabric as a child. (Yes, I still have all my doll clothes tucked away in a suitcase.) I was involved in 4-H sewing and always made something more complicated than the designated project. I made almost all of my own clothing during high school and college. The more complicated and cutting edge the pattern, the better I liked it. I am a stickler for details and have always liked the inside of a garment to look very neat.

For the past 30 years I have primarily been employed as a Registered Nurse. During this time I continued to sew as a hobby making quilts, Christening gowns, fantasy dress up costumes, and doll clothes as special gifts for friends and family. While I was making my second Christening gown, I had the opportunity to take a four day Martha Pullen course and became totally hooked on heirloom sewing. I have long dreamed of a sewing based business. When my family moved to rural northwestern Ohio, I decided to devote my attention to custom heirloom sewing. I want to be your heirloom dressmaker.

Sally has also attended another 4 day Martha Pullen course where she learned new heirloom techniques such as Celtic Lace Shaping and lace cathedral windows.  She also had a chance to ask questions of some of the best heirloom sewing teachers available.
