Devon Christening Gown
- Devon Christening Gown features:
- 100% linen fabric
- Madeira appliqué collar, cuffs, and hem
- Madeira appliqué stitched with pin stiching
This very masculine Christening Gown has no lace on it. It is constructed of 100% linen fabric with the yolk lined in cotton batiste. It has a high yolk and closes with 2 mother of pearl buttons and button holes. The square collar has Madeira appliqué around the collar. This Madeira appliqué is repeated on the bottom of the straight long sleeves. The skirt has an A line shape. There is a Madeira appliqué with a shallow scallop at the bottom of the gown. All of the Madeira appliqué is stitched with a machine pin stitch which looks like it was done by hand. The gown is 32 inches long (shoulder to hem) and has a circumference of 60 inches around the bottom. The matching A line slip is made of 100% cotton batiste. It has French binding around the neck and arm opening and the back opening. It closes with 1 button and a self fabric loop. The hem is stitched with pin stitching. This gown could have a rounded collar and lace or tatting could be added around the collar for a softer look. The neckline could be left plain with a corded piping such as on the Jordan gown. If you want a touch of color in your Christening gown, the Madeira appliqué could be done in a pastel colored matching fabric.
Prices for a 100% linen gown start at $280. Prices for a 100% cotton batise gown start at $200.
